1. Samiljeol (Independence Movement Day)

  • Date: Monday, March 3
  • Details: This is the observed holiday commemorating the March 1st Independence Movement.


2. Buddha’s Birthday

  • Date:  Tuesday, May 6 
  • Details: A national celebration honoring the birth of the Buddha.


3. Children’s Day

  • Date: Monday, May 5
  • Details: A festive day dedicated to celebrating and cherishing children.


4. Memorial Day

  • Date: Friday, June 6
  • Details: A day to honor the patriotic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.


5. National Liberation Day of Korea

  • Date: Friday, August 15
  • Details: Also known as the “National Liberation Day,” it marks Korea’s emancipation from Japanese rule in 1945.


6. National Foundation Day (Gaecheonjeol)

  • Date: Friday, October 3
  • Details: Commemorates the legendary founding of the Korean nation.


7. Chuseok & Hangul Day

  • Dates: Monday, October 6 – Thursday, October 9
  • Details: Chuseok is Korea’s major harvest festival, celebrated with family gatherings and ancestral rites. Hangul Day, observed on October 9, honors the invention of the Korean alphabet.


8. Christmas

  • Date: Thursday, December 25
  • Details: A globally recognized holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
